June 2026 · KSERC

Modelling Distribution Loss Factors

Built a regression model in Python to estimate distribution loss factors from historical load data — first time I’ve tied MATLAB modelling instincts to a real regulatory dataset.

First Week at the Commission

Onboarding, reading tariff orders, and understanding how a regulatory body evaluates grid performance. More paperwork than I expected, but the depth of it is fascinating.

Inside a 25 kV Traction Substation

Walked through a live traction substation for the first time. Traced protection relay logic against the schematics I’d been studying — theory finally met metal and wire.

DAB Converter: Lessons from Hardware

Simulation showed 91% efficiency. The prototype said otherwise — until I found a gate-driver timing mismatch. Debugging hardware is a different language than debugging MATLAB.

Odyssey:Pepsi to Apple

John A.Byrne and John Sculley

An engrossing, albeit highly self-justifying, window into a pivotal era of corporate American history through the eyes of executive John Sculley. The memoir successfully captures the high-stakes marketing wars of the “Pepsi Challenge” before shifting into a fascinating, tense account of cultural whiplash as Sculley transitions into Silicon Valley. While the book excels at detailing the mechanics of 1980s corporate strategy and the visionary concepts that foreshadowed modern mobile computing, its ultimate focal point remains the dramatic, bittersweet boardroom rift with Steve Jobs. It reads less like an objective history and more like an essential, deeply personal defense of traditional corporate management colliding with creative genius, making it a compelling read for anyone fascinated by tech lore and corporate leadership.

Dual Active Bridge Converter for Interconnected Microgrids

Sep 2024 — Mar 2025

Designed and modelled a bidirectional DC-DC converter in MATLAB/Simulink with open-loop and closed-loop control strategies. Achieved microgrid efficiency above 90% through voltage and current regulation models aligned with PV-based distributed energy requirements. Validated control logic through a hardware prototype and technical literature review.
